- Mixture of Lidocaine and Prilocaine.
It’s a local anaesthetic for topical application, developed to anaesthetise intact skin.
It’s used to prevent pain associated with needle insertion, intravenous cannulation and superficial surgery on skin.
It’s available as a cream or patch presentation.
EMLA Cream must be applied (60 minutes – 120 minutes) before the procedure to the area that we plan to treat.
Before applying EMLA Cream, wash the skin and remove all dirt oil from this skin.
EMLA cream should be applied very think (about ¼ inca think) to the site of the procedure.
Cover the area with saran-wrap and secure the edges of saran-wrap with medical tape to avoid leakage.
